T-Shirt Quilt
I hope everyone is having a great day. Here is a picture of a t-shirt quilt I finished yesterday. It took me a while to complete. I am so busy with working and the kids and such that I just can't find the time to make bed sized quilts like I used too. I have one more big quilt to make before Christmas. The material is washed. Now I need to start cutting it up. Wish me luck. LOL.

Wow...
I can't believe it has been over a month sense I last posted. Life has been hectic. I got a job back in August and I love it. I got promoted about 4 weeks ago. Things are going good. I am working almost 40 hours a week. It has taken some time away from my family. The kids are missing me like crazy. Josh asks me every day if I have to work that day. Poor little guy. I haven't had a lot of time for sewing. I usually have to get up early and start before work or try to squeeze some in on my off day. Monday was my birthday. I said the heck with house work and sewed all morning. It was great. I thought I would share some photos of blocks I have made recently for swaps. I hope and pray you are all have a great day.

Trying to get caught up...
Hello fellow bloggers. Life has been very hectic for me. I was sick for about a week. I had a sinus infection and had to go to the doctor for meds. Then a couple days later my dad called and told me my grandfather passed away. He had cancer and it spread to his brain. I left about two hours after his call and drove to Fort Myers, Florida. It took me a total of 17 hours to get there. 4 of those were from taking a nap. I was there two days and it went by in a blurr. It was good to get to spend time with my family.
I got a job working as a cashier part time. I really like it. I have a ton of sewing to get caught up on. I have around 13 swaps for this month to do and I need to finish a Tshirt quilt for my landlord. There just aren't enough hours in the day.

Sewed some blocks yesterday...
I sewed thes blocks yesterday for some swaps for the month of August. It was so nice to do some sewing. I mailed them off today.
My oldest sone starts back to school tomorrow. I can't wait. Next week I am going to enroll my youngest son in preschool. I can't wait to have some time to myself. The kids have been fighting likes cats and dogs all summer. It is enough to drive you crazy. God knows I love them but the fighting is maddening.
I have the Tshirt quilt I need to start on. I have four quilts that need to be sandwiched. My work is never done.
Oh and today I signed up for another swap. It is a log cabin swap I have to make 12 or 15 blocks to swap. The colors are white or wow on one side and beiges on the other with the center square being a dark beige. I am excited to do this one. It was on my list of quilts to make. Yeah...Sometimes I am my own worst enemy. But I like to stay busy.

It's Monday....
I am feeling better. No more medicine head. I didn't get much sewing done in the last week. Just a couple blocks for swaps.
We had a busy weekend. Saturday was spent school shopping. That is always so much fun. There were tons of people out shopping. I went to 5 different stores before I could find my oldest son any shorts. They have a dress code here. No shorts that have more than five pockets. No carpenter pants or cargo pants aloud. And they can only wear solid, striped, or plaid shirts. Nothing with any logos on it. The shirts were easy to find. But it was almost impossible to find shorts. All the stores had shorts but they had too many pockets. Very frusterating.
Sunday we went to church. Then I took the kids to the skating rink for a friends birthday party. They had a blast. Then back to church again.
I have a quilt I need to get started on. A tshirt quilt for a daughter of a lady I know. She has 30 gymnastics tshirts for me. I need to finish the quilt for my bed. All I have to do is sew the border on it and put all the layers together. I have 4 swaps to make blocks for. They are farely easy. Hopefully I can work on those tomorrow and get them in the mail this week.
I slipped and fell in some mud in the back yard earlier today. I was watering plants and went to shut the water off and slid in the mud. My feet went right out from underneath me. I scrapped up my left knee pretty good. Thank God I didn't break a leg or ankle. God was watching out for me.

Medicine Head....
Monday I went to the doctor and got put on some new meds. I have been taking them all week. One of the side effects is medicine head. I feel like I took some cold medicine and I am loopy. I guess that is the best way to describe it.
I haven't gotten much done this week. I worked a little on my lily project. I sewed some lace on a dresser scarf yesterday. I fixed something for a friend. I also have a new project in my lap. A lady wants me to make her daughter a quilt using all her old gymnastics t-shirts. I also have a pile of fabric to iron and cut up into squares. I just can't seem to get myself motivated. I have managed to do a load of laundry. But what fun is that. I bought some pink, blue, and purple fabric to make a planned parenthood quilt for a friend in FLORIDA who is having a baby.
Hopefully the day will turn itself around here shortly and I can get some things done.

Lily Blocks
Today I worked one the floral pieced blocks. I made 3 yesterday and the other 5 today. I have 8 of the other blocks too. I am going to alternate them with sashing in between. 4 across and 4 down. I have one more orange lily to hand stitch and then the leaves and stems of all 8. Then I can sash and border the piece. The floral print of the pieced blocks is a lily print. I am hoping to finish it with in the next week. It will make a cute wall hanging or lap quilt.

Fabric Arrived....Yeah....
I ordered some fabric from www.fabricshack.com Saturday. It arrived today and I got a free fat quarter. The fat quarter is very pretty too. They also sent me the directions for two quilt patterns. One of them I might try. It looks very pretty. So I have to say that I will definitely order from then again. I order 1/2 yards of the 4 prints. They are all Marcus Brothers material. They are in the washer now. Can't wait to cut them up. LOL.
I was going to work on my quilt today but hubby came home from work sick this morning. He has a bad headache and is nauseous. So I am trying my best to keep the kids quiet and not use the sewing machine. I am working on my lilies instead. Hopefully I will get them done soon. It seems like they will take forever. I just don't have enough patience for embroidering. LOL.

Lovely Weather
It was lovely outside today. One of the best days this summer. Not too hot and a nice little breeze. The kids actually got to play outside a little. I didn't get any sewing done this weekend. I haven't been feeling well the last two days.
My hubby got the kitchen cabinet hung. Yeah...We bought it back in March. So after church this morning I spent my time reorganizing the kitchen. It looks a little better. Of course it would look great if there wasn't a huge pile of laundry calling my name. That will have to wait until tomorrow.
The house is quiet right now. Josh fell asleep right after we came home from church. Tyler went with the young people of the church to go sing at another church. We don't often get to enjoy much piece and quiet. I almost don't know what to do with myself. I need to take something for my headache. That is the first order of business.

Fish Block & 9 Patch
I finished my 6 fish blocks today. They turned out pretty cool. There wasn't an exact pattern so there was a lot of trimming to get it to be a 9 inch square. All in all it wasn't to difficult. I cut the pieces yesterday, got the squares made, and sewed the fins together. Today I got all the pieces put together. And of course I have been cleaning house while I do this. I probably could of had it all done yesterday. I made the rest of my nine patch squares yesterday too.
The first picture is the batik I received from my swapper for my fish blocks. She also sent me a pin which is in the picture.
Now I can get to working on catching up on the BOM the month blocks from the previous 6 months. I also have some August blocks to make for swapping.
I ordered some material off of www.fabricshack.com today. They had some nice material on sale for under $4.00 a yard. I ordered Marcus Brother material in four different prints. I order 1/2 a yard of each one. With shipping it was a little over $12.00. Not too bad I guess. I hate having things shipped but you can't buy it in the stores here. So what choice do you have.
I have done alot of house cleaning in the last two days. I need to go to the post office and grocery store. It never seems to end. This is the life of a stay at home mom who likes to sew. LOL :)

This is what I worked on today. It is using the scrap pattern. Turned out pretty cool. My husband said it looks like the video game tetris. I love that game. I am going to finish it off with a solid red border. I am going to donate this one to Project Linus. So far I have three tops made to donate. I want to make a couple more. I was thinking a premie quilt and a baby quilt too. I have some patterns I would like to practice. We will see.
A lady by the MSN name Garden Gal sent me some beautiful batik material for me to use as the ocean in my fish blocks I am making for a swap. I couldn't find the right stuff here for the life of me. She came to my rescue and sent me a cool pin too. I am going to send her some fabric in return. I have meet some great ladies doing swaps. It is nice to meet people who have the same interest and don't get tired of talking about quilts. LOL.
Tonight was the last night of Vacation Bible school at church. It went very well. Everyone had a great time and I am exhausted. It is time to unwind. Have a nice evening.

Here are a few pictures of what I have been working on for the last two days. God Bless all the women who hand stitch, embroider, cross stitch, and do needle point. My poor thumb is so sore. I have completed 2 lilies in 2 days. I still have to do the stem and leaves. I can come back to that. I am concentrating on the flower right now. Please ignore my irregular stitches. I am an amateur to say the least. I didn't realize when I had this idea how long it would take. Never have embroidered before or hand stitched much. Not on big projects anyway. I was searching high and low for a Lily pattern to applique. I never came across one I liked. So I turned to coloring books and coloring pages. I found a coloring page off the internet of a group of lilies. I cut out the one I liked and made a pattern out of it. Once I finish it I am sure it will be lovely.

Running Around Like Chicken With My Head Cut Off...
Our vacation bible school started at church last night. It will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening too. We had a good turn out last night. I helped the teachers on the K-2nd grade class. We had a good time. The kids were full of questions. We had a good time making the crafts too.
Today I am helping out with food for the evening meal. I am bring two batches of brownies, one cake, a crock pot full of baked beans, and 6 packs of heat and serve rolls. I tend to always want to over extend my self. LOL. Wednesday evening I am bringing two batches of brownies, two bags of chips and a case of Coke. Wednesday is Pizza night. Not as much work involved sense we are getting the pizza's brought to us.
So I guess I might not have time for sewing today. I need to work on a quilt I started last year and was going to try to send to someone as a gift. It involves hand embroidering the applique. I also have two swaps to work on. One of my online swapping buddies is going to swap out some material with me. I need a certain color Batik and couldn't find it here. So God Bless her she is a life savor. She is mailing it to me today.
My house smells like brownies. Yummy. Oh the timer is going off on the brownies...Yep they are done. Well gotta run and make a cake...Hope everyone is having a great day. God Bless.

What kind of Pie are You?
You Are Lemon Meringue Pie |

No Sewing today....
Today is definately one of those days when you feel like you have done everything but it looks like you haven't accomplished anything. I got up, put the clean dishes away. Swept the kitchen floor. Fed the youngin's breakfast. Took the youngin's to the park. Went to the grocery store. Came home put the groceries away. Fed the youngin's lunch(mini pizza's). Took the kids outside and let them play in the kiddie pool. By then it was 2:00pm. Then washed more dishes. Swept the kitchen floor and mopped it. Oh wait I forgot to mention that I have done 5 loads of laundry while I'm doing all this. Whew....It's quarter to 4 and I'm just now feeling like I don't have a million things to do.
Oh wait...I have to start supper in about 30 minutes. LOL. I am going to make Steak Enchilladas. Yummy. Found the recipe in my Simple and Delicious magazine. It was for chicken but we are eating alot of chicken this week so I am substituting it with steak. I can't say it enough how much I love that magazine. It comes out every two months. It is put out by Taste of Home. It used to be called Quick Cooking. It has great quick recipes for people who don't like to spend hours in the kitchen every night. If you haven't looked at one you should. A subscription is between 10 & 12 dollars for a year. It is well worth it. I have given it to family members and friends as a Christmas present.
Ok so I guess I have rambled enough. Hopefully I will get to sew this weekend. Much love to all...

Forgot to mention this...
I discovered a great way to clean the tops of sippy cups today. My sons cups get build up on the inside where the spout is. I was trying to figure out what to use to get it clean. I was ready to throw them away. Which I should probably do anyways. I got out our barbecue brush which we don't use, the hubby doesn't like BBQ sauce for some reason. It has long enough bristles to get way down in the cracks. It worked wonders. You could try a toothbrush but I'm not sure if it will be long enough. We use the Gerber cups.
Got my Partner Swap Block....
My lovely partner Louise from 3 Sister Cyber Quilting sent me this block. I love it. It is very pretty and will go great in my purple quilt that I will make hopefully sometime this year.
This is the first swap I have ever received. I love it and can't wait to get more in the mail. It is like a kid in a candy store (as my friend Laura would say).
I sewed a little yesterday. Working on my yellow and red quilt for Project Linus. It is turning out pretty. I will post a picture as soon as I finish the blocks. Which will hopefully be today. So maybe tomorrow I will be able to post a picture.
I have been cutting frames for scrapbooking this morning. I bought a ton of paper at Hobby Lobby last week. They had it on sale. I love a sale. LOL. I can never really find frames I like already made so I am making my own. I have sold a few on ebay and given a few away.
I am also making Ranch Potato Salad for supper tonight. Gotta make it early so it will be cold by supper time. Well Have a great day everyone. Until tomorrow..... :)

Caladiums, Elephant Ears and Cats...
So here are the things I have managed to plant and haven't killed yet. Oh and my kitties too. Dash and Dot. She is sniffing him because he just came in from outside and she needs to make sure he is scent free for some reason. She doesn't like the outside, he loves it. He is chilling like he owns the place.
The elephant ears I just planted about a week or so ago. The caladiums I planted about 2 months ago or longer. Can't remember for sure. The hens and chickens came from my mother inlaws house in Kentucky. They made the 8 hour trip back last fall and lived through the winter. They are hardy plants and multiple like crazy. She also gave me a rose of sharon bush. I planted it last fall and thought it was dead. But come spring it grew leaves. It is about 1 1/2 feet tall now. I guess I'm not doing too bad.
I haven't sewn yet today. Oh nooooooooo. I have some things ready to sew but have had other things to do. I am washing fabric to finish up two projects.
It is hot and humid here today. The kids can't stand it outside for more than 15 minutes at a time. Poor things. I can't wait for school to start again. I love my youngin's but 24/7 is too much. LOL. Just kidding. They love to drive each other crazy. And me of course. God Bless us.

Deformed Fish...Ugh
So here is a picture of my deformed fish. He has a birth defect. His bottom fins are going the wrong way. LOL. :( I decided not to rip it apart. It will be much easier to start over from scratch. That will have to wait for another day. I'm definately not in the mood to start again today. My kids like the fish so I will make them something with them. There are 6 total.
I finshed my partner swap block and got it in the mail today. I forgot to take a picture of it. I used the scrap zig zag pattern from quilter's cache. It turned out very pretty. That pattern is very easy to do. One of the easiest I have done yet.
My sinuses are still bothering me a little. I thought I was going to wake up with a full blown summer cold this morning. So far just a sore throat and my ears are a little itchy. Of course with sinus pressure too. Yuck. It needs to rain again. Well off to check things out on the internet.

Baby Quilt Top
I started this quilt top earlier in the week and completed it today. I am making some blankets to donate to Project Linus. This is the first top I made for the donation. I am also working on one for a girl too. I will post a picture of that later in the week when I am finished with it. It is using a scrap pattern but the colors are yellow and red. Yesterday I found a bunch of material for a dollar a yard at Hobby Lobby. They are a bunch of kids prints. So I got 6 different prints. So that is six more blankets I can make to donate.
I found out who my partner is for the July partner swap. I went and bought the fabric this morning. Can't wait to get my swaps in th mail.
I got a scrapbook in the mail today that I ordered off ebay. It is prettier than I thought it would be. Now I can start our scrapbook about our vacation to Florida that we took in June.
Well I am off to nurse my headache. It came on all of the sudden. It must be allergies.

UFO...
Block Of the Month for July
Happy 5th of July...
Couldn't think of a great title this morning. I hope everyone had a great day yesterday. Thank God we got some rain the last two days. If not the woods across the street from our house would of been ablaze. We shot off fireworks for an hour. Some of them went into the woods. Two trees caught the brunt of some of the fireworks and had some red embers still glowing on them. Tim and Greg went and shook the trees. It had rained earlier. So the moistier on the trees put out the embers. WHew. We got scared for a second. Thought we might hav to call 911 for a fire truck. Th kids had a good time. Josh doesn't like loud noises all that much. He had his ears covered the whole time. He kept wanting to go back in the house. We ate a huge meal too. It was so good.
Greg and Mary made a piniata that looked like a rocket. The kids had so much fun banging it around. Itwas solid as a rock. We all took turns hitting it. It took about 15 minutes before Tyler ripped a hole in it.
I joined a quilting group on msn and joined four swaps. I am so excited to start swaping quilt squares. Can't wait to see what I get. I already started sewing them yesterday. I got two of the four swaps done. The scrap swap and the nine patch swap.
I am waiting to find out who my partners will be for the other 2. I am 6 months behind on the block of the month club. So I am going to work on making the quilt squares I need for that. So when the end of the year comes I will have all the squares to make the quilt. It is in shades of purple. It will be pretty.

Madagascar Quilt For My Baby...
I made this quilt this morning. It took 3 1/2 hours from start to finish. It is hard to see in the picture but the outside border is a leopard print. I wanted to make Josh a quilt that he could abuse. Right now he is using one that I would like to keep in relatively good shape for a long time. My mother inlaw made it. I want him to be able to pass it on. So this is the reason for this quilt. Something he can drag around the house and accidently get juice on. The middle is just two yards of fabric. So all I had to do was add the border and make it a blankie. LOL. Now my oldest son wants me to make him another one. He already has 2 I made him. It is a never ending battle if one has something the other one wants it too.
That is Josh in the picture and our cat Dash. They where very interested in what was going on.

Almost done with Quilt Top...
So this is what my latest project looks like on the bed. I haven't put the border on yet. I'm not sure if I like it all that much. Maybe it will grow on me. It will have to I guess. It will be on my bed. LOL.
I joined the Quilting Around the World Blog on msn. It is pretty cool. I found it through another quilter's site when I was looking at other people quilts today. I added my name to the 9 patch swap. I am very excited to do something like this. I haven't ever traded anything before. I am looking forward to receiving some blocks from other people. I told my husband I joined and he got on to me and told me I needed to hurry up and finish our quilt(pictured above) before I go making blocks to send to other people. Poor guy is tired of waiting. LOL.

Current Quilt Project...
Here is a picture of the quilt I am currently working on. It is for my bed. This is the first time I have had the time to make something for us. My husband thinks it is about time. We are tired of the store bought comforter and ready for something new. I feel in love with the print material when I saw it. It was even great that it was on the clearance rack for $2.00 a yard. So I snatched up 5 yards right away. It took a while to figure out what kind of pattern we wanted. We are simple people and our style is country eclectic. I have 16 of these blocks to sew together. Then I can start on the borders. My husband is very patiently waiting. Maybe I will get to work on it today.
My oldest son (11) stayed the night with a friend from school last night. He doesn't do this too often. When he was younger he would call for us to come get him because he was scared or missed us. I had my phone by the bed all night waiting for that call. It never came. Needless to say I didn't sleep well knowing he wasn't home tucked in his bed all safe and sound. I guess he is growing up. He didn't even need his teddy bear. :( I'm a little sad he is growing up. Almost a teenager and already has the mouth of one. At least I have another one who is still little to hold on to for a little while longer. I love my boys. :)

He didn't even need his teddy bear. :( I'm a little sad he is growing up. Almost a teenager and already has the mouth of one. At least I have another one who is still little to hold on to for a little while longer. I love my boys. :)

Kidless....
Todays title isn't something I am often able to brag about. But today is a glorious quiet kid free day. Thanks to my sister in-law. I watch my beautiful niece yesterday so she took on my two rascals today. Bless her heart. I went for a walk at the park and it went by so much quicker by myself. It was a beautiful morning. Turtles were sun bathing on the banks, birds and squirrels were everywhere.
I did a little fabric and scrapbook shopping. Found some great stuff 75% off at Hancock Fabric. Got some fresh vegies and fruit at the grocery store and came home and had a lovely veggie salad. So now what do I do with the few hours I have left....Hummmmm....SEW. That sounds great. House work can wait until tomorrow. LOL.

Camping...
Here is a picture of our camp site. We went to a place called Cedar Ridge Campgrounds. It is close to Red Bay, Alabama. We had a good time. We took the kids swimming down at the river. It was a little mucky but a nice way to cool off. It was a warm weekend. We definately had to layer on the bug spray. No one got a tick or many bites. Yeah. We had a lot of torches and mosquito coils burning. I'm pretty sure the smoke from the fire helped too. They are bulldozing around there to make way for cabins. They told us that they found some Indian arrow heads and an ax head in great shape. We looked around for a while but didn't have any luck finding any thing. We will go back. It was a great place and everyone was very friendly. And the firewood was free. Not many places give that away for free. We are checking into other places close by to go to also. I guess the camping bug bit us. I can say that we will be buying an air mattress before we go again. Sleeping on the ground is for the animals. LOL.

Friday...
Ok so today is a hectic day today. I have a million things to do and unfortunately none of it is sewing. BOO HOO. We are going camping this weekend with my brother inlaw and his family. About an hour from where we live. It will be fun, but gosh why is it always the woman's responsibility to get everything together. And of course I have to kids to watch while I get all this stuff together. Woe is me. LOL. Thank god for lists. So pray we don't run into any snakes or wild cats. So I am off to the store...Yeah...

New blogger
Hello everyone...I am new to this. I have a blog on myspace but this looks like it might be easier and more fun. I met a friend on myspace that has a blog on here. So I thought I would try it. Here is a picture of the last quilt I made about 4 weeks ago for a dear friend. It is a snow ball quilt. It was fun to make.
I am currently working on a quilt for my bed. I have been makeing quilts for 3 years and this is the first chance I have had to work on something for myself. I will post a picture when I am done.
I also love to cook. I am a stay at home mom. And very blessed to be able to do so in this day and age. Most people my age don't want to. I love being able to be home for them if they need me.
I guess i m gonna post this and try to figure out exactly how to use it. Can't wait to hear from fellow quilters. God Bless.
